The Kalakkodu Service:

The Kalakkodu Service Cooperative Bank Ltd No. 1194 occupies a unique and special status in the history of cooperative sector in Kerala. Started in the Malayalam Era 1101 at Kalakkodu, Poothakulam Village, Kollam District, the Bank has grown enough to fulfill all the financial needs of its members. Now the bank has more than 280 Crore deposits, 180 crores loan outstanding and more than 29000 A class members.

The deposit mobilization campaign started in the year 1976 has given primary cooperative societies of the state, the power to stand on their feet, without being much dependent on the apex bank for the mobilization of resources. It is a matter of great honour and pride that the state level inauguration of this great campaign had done by the then chief minister of the state, Sri C Achutha Menon in our Bank on 2nd April 1976. The Bank has got a remarkable place in the history of cooperative sector. Also this is the first primary cooperative bank, who has opened a branch in Kollam district.
